What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent extensions and are applied lash-by-lash, one at a time, with a safe, medical grade adhesive. Lash extensions give instant length, thickness and curl without the daily hassle of mascara. Your eyes will be instantly lifted and more noticeable. When applied properly, lash extensions look completely natural and real even close up. The process is completely painless and damage free.
How long do extensions last?
There are several factors that affect the longevity of lash extensions, such as how well aftercare instructions are followed, the length of you natural eyelash growth cycle, skin type and makeup. Typically the natural lash will grow out and shed with the extension before the glue gives out. The average cycle of a natural eyelash growth cycle is up to 90 days. The average person sheds 1-5 natural lashes a day per eye, but everyone sheds lashes at a different rate: therefore some may need fills sooner or later then others. Refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to keep your lashes looking full (and to avoid paying for a new set) and give the lash line a thorough cleaning.
Can extensions cause damage to your natural lashes?
Damage to your natural lashes should not occur if applied correctly and properly cared for, however a variety of factors can cause damage to your natural lashes. For example:
If the natural lash is not isolated properly, the extension will be glued to more than one natural lash, causing clumps, and your lashes will break or fall out.
If the length, weight or diameter of the extensions applied exceeds what your natural lashes can handle, your natural lashes will break off or shed prematurely.
Issues can occur if your extensions are pulled, rubbed, or otherwise improperly cared for (see Lash Aftercare instructions below).
Can I have lash extensions if I wear contacts or eyeglasses?
Yes! Lash extensions are completely harmless to and compatible with contact lenses and eyeglasses, however you will need to remove contacts during application. Please remove contacts prior to your appointment.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
No mascara or oils on eyes for a minimum of 24hrs before appt
Prior to arriving to your appointment please remove any eye makeup with an oil free makeup remover for optimal bonding. If you do not remove makeup prior to your arrival time, it will cut in to your allotted appointment time.
Remove contacts if you wear them.
Avoid caffeine and energy drinks 5-6 hrs before your appointment: Stimulants can cause eyelid twitching/fluttering.
Bring headphones to your appointment so you can listen to your favorite music or podcast to pass the time.
What face wash/products can I use?
When washing your face, gently cleanse around the eye area using an oil-free face wash. A face wipe or other oil/lint free products are recommended. Any cosmetic product or cleanser containing oils, glycols, organic solvents, urea, carbonates and high concentrations of alcohol should be avoided because they can potentially breakdown the adhesive bond and shorten the lifespan of your extensions.
Can I still use eye makeup?
It is recommended to use oil-free makeup. Do not use eyeliner or mascara (including bottom lid). Powder eyeshadow is safe to use, but do not use cream. It is also best to remove makeup daily. Avoid pencil eyeliner because dragging a sticky pencil liner along the lash line, where eyelash extensions form their tenuous bonds, worsens tangling and lash fall out. Cream and gel eyeliners can leave a gummy residue on extensions, making removal difficult to impossible and can lead to unnecessary pulling and tugging. Water proof liquid eyeliner should be avoided as these will require rubbing or repeatedly touching your lashes to remove it, all of which will shorten your extensions lifespan. Do not use mascara on your top or bottom lashes as this can lead to premature lash fallout and extension damage, dramatically decreasing the length of time your lash extensions look full and fabulous.
Can I use a lash curler?
No need! The extensions curl on their own, and curlers can pull out extensions.
